Electro-Harmonix Op Amp Big Muff Pi [SONIC CANVAS 25-04-12]

In 2024 I decided to upcycle some used pedals into works of art.  I purchased three Big Muff variants.  The Op Amp Big Muff is the first of the three I painted.

Between the 14th and 29th of March 2026, it was shown in a small art gallery in Westchester, NY.

This Big Muff Pi Op Amp was originally purchased new for use in a YouTube video. It has seen less than 2 hours of use. It was carefully disassembled and repainted. The artwork was signed and dated before a clear coat was applied to protect everything. The pedal is been thoroughly tested after reassembly (I also build guitar pedals) and it functions as it should.

The original box, paperwork, and the unused EHX 9V battery are included.

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Jeff Starr. You might have seen my YouTube videos (NotBadFilms) where review guitar gear and interview artists who have changed the music landscape. This pedal was used in a video comparing different types of Big Muff Pi circuits.

The Op Amp version of the Big Muff is a really amazing pedal. It can get very thin and cut in a full band mix in a way that other versions of the Big Muff pedals can’t. It also stacks with other gain pedals REALLY well.

Outside of youtube, my visual artwork has been featured in galleries and touring exhibitions. A few years ago I decided that I wanted to merge the art I was doing with my passion for guitar.

I’m calling this series of up-cycled and repainted pedals, “Sonic Canvases.” Each painting is unique and will never be recreated.

You will be able to see the texture of the paint and other happy accidents that showcase its organic creation. Each pedal is signed, dated and given a clear coat to help preserve the artwork. In the last photo you will see that there is a drip in the clear coat layer.

The pedal ships with its original box, battery and packaging materials. I have attached a sticker with my logo to the bottom. The internal circuit is a stock Big Muff Op Amp by EHX.

Why purchase this Big Muff Pi vs others?

This pedal hasn’t seen a lot of use. If you search Reverb for similar Big Muffs you will find a ton of used pedals on the market so I wanted to do something to make used pedals special and give you a way to decorate your pedal board with something unique that no one else will have. You get boutique looks and classic dependable circuits.
